Orchid Society of Minnesota Mission
This society is organized and operated for educational purposes. The Society seeks to increase and disseminate knowledge, appreciation and improvement of orchids; to conduct or cause to be conducted the development and improvement of orchid growing; to disseminate information concerning the culture, hybridization and appreciation of orchids to members of the Society and the public at large by means of public exhibition, publications and other appropriate means.
OSM meetings are held at 1 pm on the third Saturday of each month except in July, September and December. Most meetings are held at Bachman’s Garden Center Heritage Room, 6010 Lyndale Avenue in South Minneapolis. The exceptions to this site are announced online and in the newsletter.
Meeting format: a short business meeting, plant table contest, program/speaker, plant raffle, refreshments and plant sales. The meeting itself begins at 1 PM, however, if you are bringing plants for the Plant Table Contest please have your plants in place by 12:30 PM so your plants can be included in the judging.
Our Ask The Expert short speaker series begins at 11:30 am to 12:00 pm.
The Annual Orchid Plant Sale & Repotting Service is held in September and the Holiday Party is in December.
Annual orchid shows include the Winter Carnival Orchid Show in January, the OSM Show & Tell in March, and the Minnesota State Fair Orchid Show during the State Fair.
In July, we schedule a special event (i.e., an open house tour of members’ growing areas).
Late September also brings the Chicagoland Orchid Festival members’ bus trip.
Annual dues are $30.00 per year Single and $35.00 per year Dual (same address) for the membership year ending June 30th.
