The Value Of Values In A Relationship Even On Social Media As Whitney Wolfe Demonstrates

April 26, 2018 in Business Guru, Online Dating

After leaving Tinder (a dating application she co-founded) due to discrimination and sexual harassment, Whitney Wolfe started Bumble (a dating site that allows women to initiate contact). She was at first a little uncomfortable being called a feminist, but her sexual harassment claims with Tinder changed that. She has decided to take charge of putting women on the advantage when it comes to online dating, refusing to be silenced by men.

She is married to Michael Herd and was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. Whitney holds a bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Southern Methodist University. Whitney Wolfe started her entrepreneurial skills during the BP oil spill selling bamboo bags to affected people. She has worked with humanitarian organizations for orphanages in South East Asia. She began her technological journey at 22 at Hatch Labs starting Tinder as an IAC startup incubator project.

This has seen her named among the most influential Time 100 people in 2018 by TIME, a Meredith Corporation. She is joined on the list by 45 other women an all-time high and features among the under 40 people on the list.

Speaking at the annual SXSW festival, Whitney Wolfe said she is not after revenge with Tinder but believes in spreading positive values of love and kindness. Her initial idea with Tinder was to rewrite the internet by providing a social network that spreads good behavior. Whitney Wolfe was observant of the fact that the leading social platforms are all founded by men and was motivated to spur Bumble as a woman founder to great heights like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter.

A firm believer in helpful values, she leads Bumble to ban guns pictures saying that they demonstrate violence and at Bumble, they do not seek to highlight such. The stance was a serious one that saw 5,000 moderators hired to go through all images despite a backlash on the ban.
