Its founder Guilherme Paulus and business partner Carlos Vicente Cerchiari founded the company in 1972 when they were in their twenties. Guilherme Paulus was destined for greatness because at this time he had already completed an internship at the internationally respected company IBM.
Carlos would walk away from the company in 1974 two years after they cofounded CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. Carlos sold his portion of the company Guilherme Paulus and from this point forward he would run the company according to the way he felt is best. The business graduate and young businessman continued to expand the reach of CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A. over the next 40 years.
Today, the firm accounts for over 209 points of sale both in Brazil and overseas. Currently, their offices in 23 states in Brazil, and also in Argentina, Uruguay Chile and France. Guilherme Paulus continues to be one of the most revered businessmen in the country. Mr. Paulus Is held in such high regard from providing thousands of employment opportunities and donating to multiple charities that impact many citizens directly. In 2013, Mr. Paulus was named the chairman of the board of directors at CVS tourism in October of that year.
Guilherme Paulus also founded another branch of the tourism industry, a hotel chain. In 2005, he founded the GJP hotels and resort group. From his heavy investments into the chain, he perfectly positioned himself to take full advantage of the World Cup, which came to Brazil in 2014 and the Summer Olympics, which followed two years later in 2016. In 2013, he was named as a billionaire by Forbes magazine 4 years later, he would be named Entrepreneur of the Year by Money magazine.
